Read Colossians 1:1-23
Keep in mind that 1 Peter 3:15 tell us to “…Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.”
In verse 9 Paul says he is praying “so that” and then he proceeds to list a variety of “so that’s” which is a summary of the gospel. He does this in verses 10-14 and again in 21-23. What is this good news? Read through these verses again and create quick bullet points of the Good News so you are better prepared to give an answer to your friends and family and co-workers when they ask.
Verses 15-20 tell of who Jesus is, what he had done, is doing and his nature. It establishes Jesus as the “everything”. What is most striking to you about this summary of Jesus?
Of all of the mentions of Jesus, why might this be the most impactful to you?
What hope do you have because of Jesus? Answered prayer? Family? Work? Peace? Grace? What hope pierces you heart and causes you to worship because Jesus knows your name?
